The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) issues two key approvals for industries:
Consent to Establish (CTE): This is required before setting up an industrial project. It ensures that the proposed industry will not harm the environment or society. Industries must obtain this approval before starting construction or installation.
No Objection Certificate (NOC): Often used interchangeably with CTE, this certificate is also a prerequisite for establishing industries. It confirms compliance with environmental guidelines.
Both approvals are part of the regulatory framework under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Industries are categorized into Red, Orange, and Green based on their pollution potential, which determines the application process and scrutiny level
